I am Vita, Life I am.

Vita arose from the divine love of sweet honey grains of sandy blood marrow.

"Mortius, to whom I willingly give my Death, my everlasting passions, you are my eternal end—honoured memories of devoted love, my dearest friend."

Vita Mortuis is a poetic story that follows the encounters of a haunted soul through the four seasons of life. It is intertwined with the tormented love story of Life and Death themselves.

Vita and Mortuis fell in love and had children of flesh and blood. However, Mortuis, Death, could not be with them like Vita, who was Life. This made Mortuis very jealous. Mortuis created crows to retrieve his children, causing Vita to mourn. The torn children, through a desperate plea, caused their celestial abduction, leaving Vita and Mortuis to grieve. The act of separation brought chaos across creation. Grief and anger turned into suffering until a sacrifice was made, altering the existence of life and death throughout the ages of our time.

A FEW IMAGES FROM THE BOOK

GOTHIES DWELL

Deep down below, the hollow echoes of musty, damp breath

and misty song air

Shattered wishing stones tossed beyond the black

howling scare

Lies the reaping sounds of clanking, jingles of tattered

threads sewing

Filling sandbags of time

Very little seen, very little showing

Sowed seeds planted within a captive nativity shell

Ready for the harvested, the Gothies dwell

About the Author

Maurice K. Kimball III

When I was six, I went to bed like any other night. However, when I woke up the following morning, I found myself as an adult. It was as if I had lived an entire life overnight and accumulated a wealth of memories.

At times, when everything is completely silent, and I'm about to fall asleep, I replay these memories in my mind like a movie. It's as if I'm watching an old black-and-white indie film being projected onto the back screen of my mind. I often wonder where all the time has gone.
